Treated Mosquito Nets Distributed in Kéran
Non-profit organization PeacePal-Togo, in joint effort with Petit jardin en Afrique/Action Sociale pour l'Environnement et le Développement (ONG PJA/ASED), launched the distribution of 3,500 insecticide treated mosquito nets to households and vulnerable persons of Pessidé canton in Kéran prefecture on Wednesday, June 1st.
The objective is to reduce death and morbidity (52.84%) caused by malaria in Kéran prefecture.
Mr. Dzato Akondo, Health Services Manager of Kéran prefecture, has noted the widespread suffering caused by malaria and insists on the necessity of utilizing insecticidal mosquito nets to eradicate the disease.
Prefect Atcharchao Gnanta has also expressed gratitude on behalf of Togo's government and its people to the U.S. branch of PeacePal for its contribution to their malaria eradication policy. Mr Gnanta said, ''Free distribution is not itself a goal but usage is." He also indicated that distribution of the nets will target households in Kozah prefecture.
