PeacePal and Creativity for Peace

The start of a life-long friendship
PeacePals throughout the world have been separated by war, poverty and tens of thousands of miles, but 28 new PeacePals got to put aside their pens and paper to meet face to face for the first time at a special summer camp this August.

Creativity for Peace, nestled in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains north of Santa Fe, is a 40-acre camp that strives to put an end the conflict in Israel and the occupied Palestinian Territories. The camp was founded in 2003 and strives to develop the region's next generation of female leaders and peacemakers.

Every year the three-week-long camp hosts between 14 and 20 girls-half from Israel and half from Palestine. The teenage girls come together to engage in dialogue, art projects, team-building activities, and, perhaps most important, fun, to break down each girl's perceptions of one another as enemy combatants.

In my recent ten-day trip to Guatemala it became instantly apparent that worldwide these things are not necessarily typical, common and average. With 75% of the Guatemalan population at or below the poverty line I would go so far as to call these things relatively uncommon. What was common was how people wanted to meet us and how we wanted to meet them too. Read More >>

Meet the New Staff

Project PeacePal has a brand new staff.  The organization is growing by leaps and bounds and with your continued support will continue to grow.  With more than 3,000 students in PeacePal across 16 countries the staffers couldn't have come at a more needed time.  Two great organizations have provided the new staffers to PeacePal with the goal of allowing the organization to continue to grow to sustainable self-sufficiency.  Our heartfelt thanks go out to the federal Volunteers in Service To America program and University of New Mexico for their support.
