What People are Saying...

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?

Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone.

And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

-Marianne Williamson

HELP PEACE PAL CELEBRATE ITS SECOND BIRTHDAY!

pic In about the same amount of time that it takes for a mama elephant to give birth to her baby, PeacePal has grown from a small letter-writing project to a program that now includes 12 countries and more than 1,700 pen pals!

So, to celebrate our success we are throwing a FREE international birthday party and we want you and all your friends and family to join us.  The celebration runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 16 at The Harwood Art Center in Albuquerque and includes international music, food, dance, costumes, and art. PEACEPAL INTRODUCES “ADOPT-A-COUNTRY” PROJECT

In order to establish increasingly more stable funding for its international programs, PeacePal is introducing its “Adopt-a-Country” project.  Sponsors choose a country and donate $65 a month to run the PeacePal program for a local school and its sibling school for an entire year.

“By far, our biggest expense is mailing costs,” said Project PeacePal founder and director Sarah Wilkinson.  “Even in the age of computers, we have found that old-fashioned hand-written letters are still the most meaningful form of communication.” Read More >>

New Theme For Our Third Year

As PeacePal celebrates its second anniversary, the organization is marking its transition from terrific two to thrilling three with a new theme that even more clearly captures its mission, “Peace Begins in Me: What One Person Can Do.”

“It was important to us to emphasize that peace begins ‘in’ each of us, instead of ‘with’ us,” said Project PeacePal founder and director Sarah Wilkinson.  “Our focus is on getting kids to realize that a peaceful world starts with peaceful people – and that means understanding what respect, conflict-resolution and empathy mean in your own life so that you can bring that to your interactions with people from all walks of life.” Read More >>

You too can join us in helping to make our world a more peaceful place. Here are a few ways you can help:
  • Are you a business owner, or do you know a business owner, that would be interested in making a corporate (tax-deductible) donation to Project Peace-Pal?  Read More >>

  • Volunteer your time and talents in our office, with such things as international follow up, mailings, or other administrative tasks. Read More >>

Lessons We Have Learned in our First Year

  1. International mail delivery times vary greatly and in some places mail never arrives at all;
  2. Handwritten letters with cool stamps are wonderful souvenirs...but only when they actually get mailed;
  3. When letters are delayed a long time (3-5 months) or never arrive, students feel really disappointed;
