Over the last four years, PeacePal has developed successful pen pal letter exchange programs in many locations throughout the world. Thousands of students have learned about life in faraway places and created friendships. With your support we can continue to develop deeper relationships in these and new locations, and provide the funding necessary for international partners in impoverished locations to participate.
Our vision for our Adopt a Classroom program is to create a sustainable, ongoing source of revenue and an engaged constituency of supporters.
What does it mean to adopt a classroom? Adopting a classroom is a direct and powerful way to help students throughout the developing world. Your gift will create a productive learning environment for international PeacePal students and support our pen pal letter writing project.
Who can adopt a classroom? Anyone can adopt, including individuals, families, churches, classes, and clubs. Consider asking your child’s school to adopt a classroom!
What do I receive when I adopt a classroom? Throughout the year you can visit our website to see recent photographs, pen pal letters, and school updates. Donors at higher support levels will have classrooms named in their honor, and will receive photos and letters from students in their classroom.
How does the process work? After browsing our photo gallery, contact us regarding the classroom(s) you would like to adopt.
Is my contribution tax deductible? Of course! Project PeacePal is an IRS approved 501c(3) tax-exempt organization.
Does adopting a classroom "make a difference"? Yes! Although many nations are blessed with advanced communications technology, correspondence between individuals in many countries is almost impossible through the methods familiar to most U.S. youth such as email, texting and social media like Facebook. For these individuals, meaningful international communication is only possible through personal handwritten letters. These personal messages begin to create connections and friendships which erode previously held negative impressions based on stereotypes perpetuated by popular media. Youth in the U.S. continually exclaim: “They like the same things I do! I can’t believe how much we have in common!” In addition, by providing things like desks and electricity, you can ensure that students can continue to write their pen pal letters in a classroom that is safe and conducive to learning.
May I visit the classroom? Are you traveling to your adopted classroom’s country? Talk to us about meeting your PeacePal classroom in person!
